My story

A little bit about me....

Like many, I graduated from university with very little idea of what I wanted to do with my life having discounted the obvious route I would normally have pursued following my science based degree.

Slightly floundering, trying to figure out what career path to take, a family friend suggested I take a break and do something creative -

And that's just what I did.

After a weeks taster course down in Cornwall, I was totally hooked and signed up for more....

Over the next couple of years I completed my training at Tresithick Upholstery and Restorations in Cornwall, attaining both Levels 2 and 3 advanced qualifications through the AMUSF (Association of Master upholsterers and Soft Furnishers) in 2013.

"You've always loved fabrics and interiors & you're fairly practical, so why don't you have a go at some upholstery?!"

Welcome to Olivia Jane Upholstery...

Working from my Old Pigsty Workshop in the beautiful Worcestershire countryside, I specialise in both Traditional and Contemporary Upholstery.

My training at Tresithick instilled a dedication to restoring, re-upholstering, reviving and re-designing pre-loved items for clients throughout Worcestershire and beyond, to be enjoyed for many more years and hopefully handed down through the generations.

With this passion for furniture restoration and heritage, I delight in ensuring the integrity of every piece is preserved through high quality craftsmanship using traditional skills.

Over the last 9 years I have continued to develop my knowledge and skill set in all aspects of upholstery whilst also establishing a successful business with a varied portfolio, which I am proud to say is built primarily on word of mouth and recommendation.

How I work...

IMG_3840.JPG

I provide a friendly personal service, working closely with my customers from initial consultation chatting about options and materials, through to stripping your furniture down to its very core if needed; inspecting its frame and tightening its joints, replacing webs and springs and covering it in the fabric of your choice, all ready for delivery of your completed furniture.

My upholstery process starts with a photo or two of your piece. From those, I can provide an estimate of cost and fabric quantity.  If you're happy to proceed, I then suggest a date for me to pop over and see you in person where we can chat through design ideas and you can flick through the sample books I'll have bought with me.  If you'd rather visit the workshop, you'll be able to browse my full collection of books and samples while we have a cup of tea!

My favourite part of the upholstery process is choosing the right fabric to compliment the furniture; I will help you select the right type of upholstery fabric for your piece, bringing together your style, décor and usage.

Don't worry at all if you've never embarked on a project like this before, I'm here to guide you and help you create a totally unique, personal, hand crafted & quality piece of furniture to cherish for years to come.

Let me help you transform your piece
